Welcome to the KERN Language School in Kiel

Kiel is not only a state capital city but also the biggest city of the state, Schleswig-Holstein. Kiel is internationally known for its sport through its sailing event the “Kieler Woche” (Kiel Week) and the handball club THW Kiel. Additionally, there is also a German Marines base and the Christian Albrechts University, founded in 1665. Furthermore, the state capital is not too stingy on the tourist attractions and entertainment: the Kiel Town Hall Tower is the landmark of the city but the local opera house, the Old Botanical Garden or the Kiel Theatre makes the Baltic city a favourite for tourists and visitors from all over the world.

By public transport:

Plenty of lines (32, 33, 61, 62, 501, 502, 901, 902, etc.) run from the main railway station to the station Holstenbrücke/Bootshafen, which is near to Holstenstraße. From this stop, it is only around 100 metres to the KERN office at 22 Holstenstraße.

Mit dem Auto:

From all directions, follow the signs to Fähren (ferries) and Hauptbahnhof (main railway station).

From Hamburg or Flensburg (A7/A215), turn right at the end of the motorway (A215/A7) towards Lübeck (B76/B404). From the B76, take the exit marked "Zentrum/Fähren" (centre/ferries) and head towards the centre. Continuing straight on, you will then reach the street Sophienblatt.

The main railway station is on your right-hand side. You can park here in the central bus station car park.

Turn right down Holstenstraße, which is parallel to Sophienblatt, and follow the road for around 800 metres (about a 10 minute walk) until you reach number 22 on the left-hand side of the high street. Or by bus via Bahnhof – Holstenbrücke/Bootshafen (main railway station – Holstenbrücke/boat harbour). See arrival by public transport.
